Food for your February Mood

Let me just say it…February sucks. Apologies to all of you Aquarians/Pisces who have  birthdays this month, but I’m over winter and spring seems really far away.  Everyone I’ve spoken to says February is a crap month when even social media seems sad. If you were lucky enough to go on an island vacation or ski trip this month, I’m jealous and happy you could add a little sunshine to my Instagram feed. Otherwise just kind of a bad month overall and the long, drawn-out global pandemic and a war just aren’t helping. January brought the excitement of the new year and new things to come, but by February, I’m ready to pull the covers over my head and stay in bed. Please wake me in April.

Of course it’s not realistic to “check out” for six weeks, so how does one get through the doldrums of February? The answer may come from an obvious place…your diet.  By choosing foods that can elevate your mood, you can give yourself a fighting chance to get out of those all-day pajamas. You’ll have the energy and motivation to be productive and excited about what the day may bring. So, stop binging the latest show about swindling socialites and try these ten foods to elevate your mood from Everydayhealth.com:

  1. Nuts (Almonds are a primary ingredient in Chewma Protein Bites)
  2. Grass-Fed Beef
  3. Fish
  4. Whole Grains
  5. Fruit
  6. Vegetables
  7. Fermented Foods (like sauerkraut or kimchi)
  8. Beans and Peas (Pea Protein is also found in Chewma Protein Bites)
  9. Hot Cocoa (yes, you read that right!)
  10. Coffee

Stay away from excessive alcohol and highly processed foods as these can adversely impact your mood and TGIM (Thank God It’s March) tomorrow. I may just make it to April after all.
